Job fair attracts hundreds of hungry applicants
LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - U.S. Representative Louie Gohmert teamed up with local partners to make The East Texas Job Fair happen.
The First Baptist Church Family Life Center was full of job seekers browsing local employer booths hoping to snatch up one of the more than 1,200 available positions.
Rudy Rodriguez was at the event looking for a job. He said, “We need more events like this because everybody, there’s no jobs in Lufkin and there’s lots of people who’ve been laid off. Lufkin industries and Foundries and all that. It’s good to find jobs. Makes it a lot easier on us.”
Rodriguez was laid off from Lufkin Industries. He said he would be satisfied to just get an interview with a good potential employer. Hundreds like Rodriguez got a chance to meet with more than 45 potential employers.
