Citizens United Political Victory Fund Endorses Louie Gohmert For Re-Election In Texas’ 1st Congressional DistrictPosted on January 26, 2016 in Press Releases
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Citizens United Political Victory Fund (CUPVF), the affiliated PAC of Citizens United, issued the following statement endorsing Congressman Louie Gohmert for re-election in Texas’ 1st Congressional District.
“Citizens United Political Victory Fund is proud to endorse Congressman Gohmert for re-election because there is no greater fighter for conservative principles in the U.S. House than Louie Gohmert,” said David N. Bossie, President of Citizens United.
“When Obama or Clinton step out of line, I call Louie Gohmert. When the Constitution is being threatened, I call Louie Gohmert. When conservatives need to make a stand on defunding Planned Parenthood, I call Louie Gohmert,” Bossie continued.
“Our nation is under assault by the Left and these liberal policies are pushing our nation to the brink. Whether it’s Islamic terrorism, our $19 trillion national debt, or our open southern border, conservative Americans need allies in the U.S. House like Congressman Gohmert now more than ever. I call on all Texas voters to vote for conservative hero Louie Gohmert for re-election on March 1st,” Bossie concluded.
Phyllis Schlafly Endorses Louie Gohmert for Texas's 1st DistrictPosted on January 25, 2016 in Press Releases
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Eagle Forum PAC, a conservative public policy organization founded by pro-family leader Phyllis Schlafly, is proud to endorse Congressman Louie Gohmert to continue representing the 1st District of Texas. Mrs. Schlafly released the following statement:
“I am proud to endorse my friend Congressman Louie Gohmert for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives. Louie is a vital voice in Washington not only for Texas but for conservatives across the nation.
“Louie has provided leadership in Congress when there was none. He has proven time and again his commitment to the American people and the values that made our country exceptional. Few other Members understand as well as Louie that the Republican Party should offer a choice to the American people, not merely an echo of the Washington establishment.
“Reclaiming American values requires legislators with principle and tenacity. Louie has done an exemplary job of displaying these characteristics, and conservatives in Texas should rally around him.”
Eagle Forum PAC supports candidates who are committed to a conservative philosophy of limited government, national sovereignty and traditional values.
Congressman Louie Gohmert Files for ReelectionPosted on December 3, 2015 in Press Releases
TYLER, TX – Today, Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert (TX-1) filed for reelection with the Republican Party of Texas. A former three-term District Judge and Captain in the U.S. Army, Louie has distinguished himself in Congress as a committed conservative and defender of liberty who isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo and fight for his district and country.
“Public service is a team effort, and I want to thank my wife, Kathy, and all of our friends and supporters who give me daily encouragement and the strength to fight for our conservative East Texas values in Congress,” said Louie. “I’m running for reelection because I’m committed, more than ever, to restoring this great nation and getting us back on track. To do this, we must continue to elect fighters who aren’t afraid to stand up for what is right, even when it means standing against our own Republican leadership, no matter the personal cost, and no matter what insults get hurled my way for being a leader in the fight.
As a former pastor once told me, “Louie, you know you are leading when people turn and starting shooting at you. I had hoped by now to return to something more financially rewarding in the private sector - but the very freedoms we hold dear are in grave danger of being lost, so I cannot walk away right now. Part of that job is educating the public over what is happening in Washington so that we can broaden the effort to restore our foundational principles to full strength. Hopefully, east Texans will allow me to continue to be their fighter in Washington.”
In Congress, Louie has been a leading conservative voice on critical issues like limited government, securing the border, fighting Islamic terrorism, reigning in federal spending, repealing Obamacare, reforming healthcare to make it more affordable with more choices, all while vigorously defending the Constitution. He’s also developed an expansive grassroots network that extends nationally for his willingness to doggedly challenge the failed policies of the Obama Administration and the Republican Establishment as he has pushed for change in his own party when the views of leadership are inconsistent with the principles of the vast majority of East Texans.
“In 2016, we have a real opportunity to change the direction of this country for years to come,” said Louie. “Despite the frustration that so many feel, I am confident that we can restore America and get our country back on a responsible, practical, entrepreneurial road. We can secure the border, stop out of control spending, repeal Obamacare, fight terrorism at home and abroad, restore religious liberty, grow the economy, and most important, defend the U.S. Constitution. We just need leaders who have the backbone and conviction to get the job done.”
He and his wife Kathy are proud parents of three daughters. They attend Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, where Louie has served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Additionally, he frequently travels to churches throughout his district and preaches the gospel to their congregations. Louie received his undergraduate degree as part of the Honors Program at Texas A&M University and later graduated from Baylor School of Law after having won a myriad of honors at both institutions. Except for his four years on active duty in the United States Army, Louie has lived his entire life in East Texas.
